Landscape Design Questions for Your Property

Please reach us at Familyrootslandscape.design@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Weeks 1–2: Establishment Phase (Keep It Consistently Moist)

  • Frequency: 2 to 3 times per day (e.g., early morning, mid-day, and late afternoon).
  • Duration: 10 to 15 minutes per zone.
  • Goal: Keep the top 2 inches of soil consistently damp without creating puddles or runoff. Never let the new turf or hydroseed dry out completely.

Weeks 3–4: Root Development Phase (Transitioning)

  • Frequency: Once per day, preferably early morning (between 5:00 AM and 9:00 AM).
  • Duration: 20 to 30 minutes per zone.
  • Goal: Encourage the roots to reach deeper into the soil by delivering deeper, less frequent moisture.

Week 5 and Beyond: Maintenance Phase (Deep & Infrequent)

  • Frequency: 2 to 3 times per week.
  • Amount: 1 to 1.5 inches of total water per week (including natural rainfall).
  • Goal: Promotes a deep, drought-tolerant root system.

Important Tips

  • Always water early in the morning to minimize evaporation and prevent fungal disease.
  • Adjust run times based on extreme heat, direct sun, or heavy rainfall.
  • Keep foot traffic to an absolute minimum for the first 3 to 4 weeks.

Yes. We offer comprehensive plant health care plans, including deep-root shrub and tree fertilization, seasonal fungicide treatments, and targeted insect and pest control to protect your landscape year-round.

Our turf management programs target common lawn pests such as grubs, armyworms, chinch bugs, and ticks, while also preventing and eliminating stubborn broadleaf and grassy weeds like dandelions, clover, and crabgrass to keep your lawn thick and healthy.
